Spring Newsletter 2020

A core teaching from most shamanic traditions involves achieving and maintaining harmony. Harmony is the natural outcome of mind, body and soul operating in concert within ourselves, and in relationship to the physical world. In western culture, we’ve all heard of the work/life balance idea that many companies promote, yet seldom implement. So during this isolation and work-at-home period, many people seem to be reflecting upon the lack of balance that’s dominated their lives, and our culture. Certainly, we all have bills to pay and need our jobs, but the day-to-day grind has left little to no room for any counterbalancing or unwinding, let alone the inclusion of other priorities. I’ve never seen the park systems so crowded this time of year before, even during the week! Yes, it’s the only way people are getting out of the house, and seeing other humans, even if at a distance, but I love how its taking place in nature. Many are seeing things differently from being unplugged, and/or isolated, which may be a tiny silver lining in the midst of crisis and uncertainty. People’s ingenuity has also shown through with such flare! Many creative forms of entertainment and pastimes, along with an endless supply of amusing videos have been produced in a short amount of time.

No doubt, boosting the immune system has also come to the forefront. Vitamins C and D are mostly sold out. Besides increasing vitamins, probiotics, and antioxidant intake, we may need a shamanic energy boost to help tide us over. Plant consciousness to the rescue—enter the magnificent Dandelion!

Dandelion, also known as Lion’s tooth because of the teeth-like shape of its leaves, has been used by indigenous cultures to provide us with the strength of a lion when we need it. The virus hasn’t even peaked yet, and the death toll will undoubtedly increase. Experts say we should prepare for a second round to hit sometime in fall, to top that off, many are now burdened with financial threats they hadn’t expected. The best we can do is use alternative ways to stay connected while following healthy guidelines, and if you need a little lift from mother nature, try using Dandelion for some extra stamina, perseverance and strength. How convenient that nature provides us with Dandelions in the spring, right when we need them! Not a very exotic plant, but a top choice for shamans, and packed full of benefits both physically, and energetically. Dandelions are best eaten fresh, but you may want to check this source for guidelines and potential risks.
