Perspective

Keeping fear at bay during times of crisis

Maintaining a sense of perspective can shift the energy for us as individuals, as well as affecting society at large. With Corona, it goes without saying that we should stay ahead of the curve with reliable information, and take proper measures of prevention, containment and treatment. Obviously, we all want to minimize the impact of this novel viral invader, and minimize the inevitable financial impact, and drain on healthcare systems.

But from a shamanic, and energetic point of view, consider the timing of this outbreak. Why NOW? The marketplaces in China aren’t new, so why did the virus decide to hop species into humans at this particular time? Are we at a historical juncture where we need a reminder of what is really important?  Globally, at all levels, pressures have been steadily escalating for decades.  Is it any wonder that a forced reset like a pandemic happen at this exact moment in time? Maybe this is a signal for us to shut down, retreat, and re-evaluate many of our systems, values and structures that have been bursting at the seams for so long. Global pandemics, as with many crisis, can be an opportunity to re-evaluate our relationships with family, work, stress management, money, lifestyle, and our preparedness for unforeseen circumstances. It seems analogous to the Hindu concept of Shiva/Shakti; the universal forces of creation and destruction.

In recent years, it seems like we’ve witnessed so many natural disasters, accidents and fires, along with the decay of antiquated stogy systems and infrastructures. The energy it takes to contain them can only sustain itself for so long. Earth, humanity, and the animal kingdom has clearly shown signs and symptoms of stress and rejection. The cry for help is loud and clear.

Abandoning rationality and getting absorbed by panic accomplishes nothing. It serves nobody well, but a change in perspective might. Naturally, we should address the current circumstances to the best of our ability. But simultaneously, we have an opportunity to look at what’s happening underneath the surface. This is a time for self-care, reflection, contemplation and re-evaluation. It’s an opportunity to grab the proverbial bull by the horn, and develop more efficient systems and modes of operation. We can chart new courses of action to carve out a positive destiny for humanity, and the planet. We have the opportunity to come out stronger when this is over, having made the necessary adjustments we’ve all been aching for.
